Over 25,000 Word Mark!

Over the weekend, I hit the 25,000 word mark of my book!

Woohoo!

This means I'm halfway there to the 50,000 words to my target of 50,000 words. Isn't this great?

I'm totally loving how the book is going too! Every time I open Word, I don't know what I'm going to write, but something happens anyway.

So, how are you going with your NaNoWriMo?

Is it going well for you? Or are you stuck?

I hope everything is happening for you in your book... and if you haven't reached the word count I have, don't worry. In my first 2 years, I didn't reach that far either.

On my first year, I reached around 19,000 words.
On my second year, I reached 23,000 words.

This is my third year, I've reached 25,000 words, and I'm still going... so it gets better with each passing year.

Take your time, don't try to write it all in one hit and write a chapter or two at a time.

I have been writing around 2,000 - 3,000 words a day. Over the weekend just past, I wrote over 6,000 words - but then I felt very burnt out. However, I will be getting in and working on the next 22,000 words on an easier schedule so they'll fly past! Well, until my next post, happy reading and writing.

  1. Good luck with reaching your writing goals. Sounds like you are doing quite well with your goals!

So what is your book about?

    1. I am going really well - feeling a little burnt out, but going well. I have to remember to look after myself, eat well, get early nights and today, I went shopping and bought up big on the fresh fruit and veggies! :D

My book's plot is about moving house... but what would happen if one of your neighbours happened to be God, who was trying to escape the rat race of running the Kingdom of Heaven, who was hiding on your street?

I was thinking about writing this one for about 6 months before wanting to write about it... I included the same characters I created from 'Angel Love'; which makes it easier for me to include them in this one, while I create others new ones.

    3. Sounds like you're doing great with your writing.

Which books do you use as resources for your writing?? Have you found certain books in the past that have been very beneficial in helping you on your writing journey??

I've had a fantasy of writing my own novel off and on for years, but chicken out before I even begin!

I'm really busy this time of year with the holiday season think about participating in NaNoWriMo this year, but I am keeping my fingers crossed I'll begin working on my own novel early next year.

I just read and reviewed a book on writing on my blog on outlining a novel before you write it. https://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2017/11/take-off-your-pants-outline-your-books.html

I look forward to trying the outlining techniques out. Maybe it will make my life easier having an outline of what I want to write before I actually begin writing.

    4. Sounds like a good way to start.

But I find a better way to begin is to brainstorm your idea before putting pen to paper... find out what you have to research, then write a few pages without thinking about it. Don't worry about characterisation or anything important, just write! You'll find that your story will pull itself together on its own.
